Ahh the CTI. The stuff of highschool wet dreams. Funny, I was always under the impression that the CTi shared a motor with the Mk2 Gti 8v. But I see it's exactly the same motor as the MK1 Gti with the intake box by the battery. So good to read these old articles.
1984 MK1 GTI - R 10 000
1992 Citi CTI - R 40 000
2008 Citi .:R - R 115 000

No doubt it was a highschool boys dream...My uncle had one in the dark green colour and dam was i in Awe of that car! I had 1st option to buy it when he was selling, but alas i did not have the cash

I would have probably still had it should i have bought it and it would have turned into a project car

No doubt, everyone wanted one, I miss mine to this day and have lots of stories to tell about my time with it talking about a highschool boys dream.
And the dark green colour is called Malachite green, that's the colour I had, I'll never forget

Guys, do you know if VW changed the spec on the CTI from the 91 models to the last in 96?
I know that in late 93 they had cosmetic changes done like dropping the half leather interior and the in 96 dropping the beadings.
Did they ever chnage the motor and engine management later on to produce more power?

My uncle had a 96 CTI and he had the full cloth interior, there was no option for semi leather.

I think it would be the same as the R-line since they share the same 1.8 motor.
