Low idle problems

Hey guys

My Citi 1.4i has some issues with a very low idle. Upon buying the car about a year ago, it idled at 750 rpm cold which is a problem i wasn't aware of given it is my first car, and it got progressively lower.

Now, it idles just below 500 rpm cold (before eventually sputtering out) so I have to keep my foot on the accelerator to maintain revs at 1000 rpm until it warms up. The car also requires me to start it multiple times. It cranks and starts properly, but sputters out/stalls in a second because it doesnt hold revs and only "maintains" revs better on the second or sometimes third start

Also, when the car is warm, it idles at no higher than 550 rpm

Any reason as to why this happens and what possible solutions are there for these problems? Help would be greatly appreciated
