I personally wouldn't buy a Mk5 variant 1.9tdi with that high mileage unless I know the history/owner of the car.

These engines (bxe/bkc) aren't like the 1.9s you would find in a polo or seat. These have common issues with big end bearings & Conrods.

I barely do work for walk in customers and I have already swapped like 10 motors in the past 4 years on Mk5 variants (Audi A3, Mk5 Jetta and golf, touran). The caddy BLS/BJB is even worse, POS!

Other than that, at that mileage the clutch/flywheel should be on its way out if still original. Depends how the vehicle has been used. If its a dsg I wouldn't even consider it (just not a dsg fan).

Egr valves/coolers tend to leak, best to delete.
Boost leaks from either cut pipes or leaking pipe seals - can be bought new at goldwagen.
Oil leaks - quite common on a mileaged diesel, again depends on how it has been maintained.
Injectors fail when using low quality fuel or lack of general servicing.
Camshafts get eaten if the wrong oil is being used.

Cooling fans get faulty now and again. Easiest way to test them with the AC.
Speaking of AC, all these duty cycle compressors eventually suffer with faulty regulating valves.

The turbo is the next common thing on most tdis since many people still don't have good turbo manners irrespective of the info on the internet.

On the suspension, the subframe bush for the gearbox mount is quite common. So are the lower control arm bushes.
Seen many vehicles where the subframe was removed and refitted with old bolts - causes weird noises when driving.

If the car doesn't get used much, rear brake calipers become sticky - they bind.

Body wise, door locks tend to give issues after a while.
The MFD on the clusters fade out.
Driver door window/lock switches get faulty at times.

Those are about all the common issues I have seen, there are some random other issues that pop up which is mainly due to ware and tare.

Still a solid car, If it's selling at a good price, I would buy it.

But be prepared for an engine rebuild/swap. I generally swap these with a pd130 engine, not quite straight forward though (asz of a polo 96kw).

When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on :driving:
