Golf mk1 fuel pump seems wrong from goldwagen

Hi

I have now bought 2 fuel pump for my citi golf 1800 carb from goldwagen and they are no the same as the last one I got. It seems to fit strange and does not seem very efficient.
My last one I bought a few years ago the output for the pump was to the front (towards the grill) of the water pipe the new one seems to be behind the water pipe.

Also the fuel filter does not seem to full to even half when the car is stopped.

Any ideas?
