Tiguan 5N TDI

Post by CoalWorld23 »

Howzit

Hope everyone is safe and well

Recently let go of my Ibiza FR :(
And purchased a 5N Tiguan 2.0 TDI 4Motion DSG as my daily

Car is clean. I'm not too familiar with the platform. It has FSH
Anything you guys would look out for?
Safe mods to improve the drive?

Any advice is welcome

Only issues we ever had was
- waterpump
- gearbox mounting

These are bulletproof if maintained correct.
Ferroli maintains a fleet of 2.0TDi's and has some with more than a million kilo's

Same here. Didn't have issues per sé with the waterpump as it was replaced together with the cambelt.
But the gearbox mounting did give issues, as well as the alternator. But it's to be expected at 275K kms.

I had the lower control arm bushes replaced, and general wear & tear items like brakes

Only other "issue" I had was a crankshaft seal that went at 230K kms.

But I agree - when maintained properly, they're bulletproof and strong.
Mine doesn't smoke and still pulls like a freight train.

Sent it in to vw for cambelt, water pump, filters and oil
They didn't pick up any issues with anything
Car drives smooth and comfy
I think I'm going to do a dsg service to get that out the way. For my own peace of mind
But for that I'll use a different service provider. Hear good things about geartronix in kya sands. Anyone with any experiences with them?
