Is it possible to fit a 6 speed gearbox to a Polo 1.6 2005 model?

I find i get to 5th and am doing around 4000rpm at 125km/hr or so and another gear would be great to drop the engine revs. The 6th gear would be a real overdrive gear - i know i might need to gear down for hills!

I have a 6-speed in my 6C 1.2TSI. It is nice, but yes I feel like I'm never in the right gear.
Uphill? Yeah, nah, that's a 3 gear downshift not just 1.

Possible yes, worth it on a 1.6 N/A, probably not

You will do better with a slightly longer final drive ratio.

If you research which gearbox from your series of Polo has the better ratio to suit your requirements, that is the route you go.

6spd will require modification to fit WRT the mountings and starter etc.

Not only that if the ratios are not suited to your engine kW output you will spend your drive stirring the pot so much people will think you are left-handed. You need much torque to use more gears.
