Intake Manifold

Post by Courierman »

I recently purchased a 2011 CC 2.0 TDI, mileage 102000 km. Driving on freeway uphill, glow plug warning light came on and engine lost all power. Waited for a while but could not restart, had it towed to a VW dealer as it was weekend. They have told me the Intake Manifold has failed and has to be replaced . Quoted me R12 100.00 . Should I look around for cheaper quotes or is this normal? Is there no extended warranty on this part as they have in the USA. Any advice is welcome . I am in the Cape Area.

Engine code bud?

Also go on Goldwagen Parts finder, find your part and check out, they will send you an email with the quote then you will get an idea how much the manifold costs.

Unfortunately the vehicle was towed before I could get an engine code . Goldwater quoted me just under R 3000-00 for manifold , much cheaper .. I be just got to find a VW workshop in CPT that will do the work

A good workshop shouldn't charge more then 6k(which is quite expensive) to do the work. Check for a VW specialist workshop.

Also get them to double check diagnosis. Don't want to repair it and you still have an issue.

Hi Courierman
Please be careful when buying the non OEM intake manifold. I have experience, hence my advice of caution. I am yet to decipher whether the non OEM unit is indeed still the problem, but as soon as I know I will update you.

Please contact Munier at Audi Claremont with regards to parts, he should be able give it to you at a cheaper price. I can vouch for J2 in Ottery as a good choice as well. I haven't personally been by them but from what Ive heard (good sources) they are good.
