We reopened with this Corsa bakkie that needed some maintenance done . It’s been looked after but not thoroughly maintained with the owner skipping services due to not doing 15000kms in a year. The suspension also had seen better days and the previous mechanics were not advising the client that his suspension components were worn and needed replacing.

Upon first drive I advised that the shocks feel like they are done, the steering feels blunt and there’s definitely worn ball joints ect . There was also a knock when u get on and off the accelerator. Once we got the vehicle on the lift we showed them these worn items.

Now that we have identified the issues, proved that those items need replacement, the customer wasn’t hesitant to fund the repairs. So we got hold of Jaco at GW Delarey and ordered all the parts.

We would address the following:
New front steering and suspension components, passenger cv and booth, rear shocks, hubs and bearings, brakes, major service , cooling system flush and bleed with new coolant temp sensor .

We ordered the parts and got to work. In the end , the owner was impressed with the service received as well as how good the vehicle felt afterwards .

Great work
I need to have a look at my suspension bits too. Going up and over speed bumps etc there are squeaky noises which I'm guessing are worn bushes on my ute

Thanks guys , the vehicle felt amazing with the new components. My only gripe was that I wanted to take it for alignment so that when they collected it, everything would be perfect and you get that feeling that wow my car is now fresh again .... but the owner insisted he would get it done . When I called him to find out how the van is going a week or later , he still didn’t get it done... sometimes I give up too .. what’s the point dropping 8k on parts and you don’t do the R600 balancing and alignment

I am also amazed that the steering rack was still in functional shape.

I used to work for GM and we were replacing tonnes of them at one stage. GM went through quite a few revisions till they got a rack that lasted more than a few kms. Even then it's still common to see them in horrible condition regularly.

Since leaving GM I have replaced many more.

Nice to see some new parts going in.
Like my mom, I change brakes and disks but say the car needs to see a brake specialist as it’s pulling left on braking, and it’s more than I know to fix. Otherwise it’s will eat pads on the left. Sure she says, month later and still driving without a second thought...

No , it’s right, prep work is very important with brakes .

This corsa had the rack ends done a few years back but yeah there were shoe laced by now since the rest of the suspension was trash, all rubber bushings and ball joints were finished. I have a video of us pulling out the control arm from the car then shaking it, the rubber bushing goes flying out and rolls on the ground ImageI sent it to the owner , he was very surprised .
