2011 Audi A4 2.0 TDI
Hi guys
My A4 is due for it 135 000km service, which is an oil change only. I was quoted R2 500 from Audi.
I am keen on doing the job myself.
The oil change should be fairly straightforward, with only issue being to reset the service indicator.
Audi says that they only use castrol 5w30 oil which is R125 per litre pus vat and I would need 5 litres.
What oil are you guys using on your Audi / VW diesel motors? Is the oil price fair at Audi? I can't seem to find a 5w30 oil only 5w40.
Any easy way to reset the service indicator without the software?
Appreciate any advice.
Thanks
Kavesh

Check owners manual, most probably 5W30 507 Approved oil. Buy from the dealers is sometimes cheaper than spares shops

I think he meant just get the oil from the dealership. You should also be able to Youtube how to reset your service indicator without software.

What is the price per litre of oil?amstel18 wrote:If it was my car, I would go and get the filter from Audi, and then use this oil: https://products.liqui-moly.com/top-tec ... -30-2.html
I bought 5W30 507 Approved oil from the dealers for R600 5 litres.
And I drive a 2.0tdi Tiguan with dpf delete done.
Spares shop is close to R1000 for 5 litres.
Oil filter from dealer was R220 and at Midas I paid R90 for a Fram oil filter

Re: 2011 Audi A4 2.0 TDI
So I have now done the oil change, the most time consuming part was to raise the vehicle and remove and refit the dust cover under the engine.
I bought the parts from Audi for R850. that was for 5 litres of 0w30 oil, filter and sump plug. (what a farce with the sump plug at R25 every oil change!
Don't think I will buy the sump plug again).
Anyways I reset the oil service indicator on the MMI but it does not take away the service due warning. I guess now I will have to find someone who will reset that for cheap. Any leads on that front in the KZN area or PMB?
I know of one guy but he wanted R500 to code my battery last year.
I will also investigate whether I can get my hands on the software, need to speak to some clever IT guys:-)

Re: 2011 Audi A4 2.0 TDI
Thanks for that tip, I just googled and saw that you need to establish what kind of interface you would use. So I guess I will need to buy the cable or blue tooth interface first. I see takealot have a few of these for sale. Do you know if they are any good?Stefan0909 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 8:51 am U can download the Ross tech SW for free, you the need to cable that is a bit pricey and then Google is your best friend when coding

Re: 2011 Audi A4 2.0 TDI
Btw, when I was at Audi, I asked the parts guy to quote me on a dipstick and he looked all confused. Then another guy comes out the back and says that they do not have one listed. He further stated that they have a "tool" to measure oil level. What a load of rubbish.
Has anyone managed to get a diptsick for their vehicle and if so where did you buy it, I see you can get from places like ebay, but would like to find one locally.
