VW Citi Golf 1.3---Coolant light comes on sporadically

Post by Daylon » Fri Aug 10, 2018 1:03 pm

Hi All

I have a 1995 VW Citi Golf 1.3.

The coolant light has started to come on in the past few weeks, it does not come on all the time, it is very random. The heat gauge is normal, and the radiator fan does kick in if the heat gauge goes over half. The car is not using antifreeze.

Any ideas what could be causing this? Is there any reason for me to worry that there is an issue with the coolant system?

Regards

Not using any sort of anti-freeze/coolant?

Bad idea if that is the case.... drain, flush/clean, use proper coolant (G12 from Goldwagen).

could be the level sender that is iffy. Swop the level sensor if loose or swop the bottle if it is cast in.
