Hi guys my gearbox packed up today. It has a hole in it. I’m going to remove it tomorrow and see exactly what happened. I’m just looking for advise about what gearbox to put in. Is it better to keep my car 5 speed or is it worth it to go 6 speed.
I know some guys have done it please I need some help thanks

Unlucky bud, good luck with the repair.

5 Speed for me, when flooring it , 6 speed revs lower when cruising 100+ though.

Having driven both , I enjoy the 5 speeds longer ratios more , where as the 6 speeds 2nd gear changes at 100 , the 5 speed changes at 130.

The work require to convert is not worth it ,in my opinion.

Either diff , shattered gear or your DMF/Clutch separated.

Thanks for the advice really appreciate it. I’m also leaning towards the 5 speed box the more research I do.

So gearbox came off today it was the diff pin . Looking at getting a replacement box do you guys have any recommendations??

Is the box unsalvageable? Can't the casing be welded and diff rebuilt?

I haven’t taken it in yet but would like to know the price difference between a repair or replacement. I’ve heard a repair is quite pricey depending on what’s broken

speak to Poy eloff - he often does a swop out. Stick to the 5 speed IMHO. I hated the 6 speed on those cars. You were just never in the right gear.

Repair only I nearly had a heart attack. I can’t find a replacement yet. So sending it in on Monday for another quote. To the same guy Donni used for his gearbox.

Try most gearbox places, Jap euro etc as well... should would you out to about 6k dude...
