Microfibre drying towels

Hi all

I'm looking for some recommendations with regards to your preferred microfibre drying towels? With my recent interest in car detailing (OK, washing my own car, not quite detailing it yet), I find one area that is currently lacking is drying it.

I got a yellow "drying towel" with a microfibre wash mitt from Shield and whilst the size of it is nice, it doesn't do a great job when it actually comes to drying. It seems to leave very faint trails of water behind. And I usually end up having to take a smaller microfibre cloth and wipe up after it. Kind of pointless, right?

Locally available, it seems that Meguiars has a decent drying towel, but before I take the plunge and spend what seems like quite a lot of money, I'm interested to find out which towels you're using for drying after washing your cars? There doesn't appear to be a lot to choose from. And the shipping/import costs from overseas are painful.

P.S. Even though I'm in Cape Town, I still wash my car! With harvested rain water, of course. ;)

I am not sure if crazydetailer ships to Cape Town but have a look. I use a waffle weave towel for drying

Thanks for the reply.

They sure do, I have purchased from them before (great service)! Just doing some research before biting the bullet and ordering a quality microfibre towel. Interested to hear the pros and cons of various brands in comparison to price (Shield is definitely on the "budget" side of the scale, or so it seems).

Cannot comment on the shield quality to be honest.
The best way to dry is not to touch the paint with any towel of any sort, if you want to be OCD you use deionized water and blow dry the paint with something...just my 2 cents other can comment also

Try the gyeon waffle towel... pristinedetailing stocks them. Good price and very good water absorption!! He ships nationwide too.
