Post by speedfreex » Wed May 16, 2018 11:56 am

Hi guys

Got a 1.3 4speed golf want to swop it with a 1.6 5speed carb or 2l 8v mp9 n 5 speed gearbox

Which will be the best conversion to do and the cheapest way to do it?

Thank you in advance

Both conversions to 5 speed will cost you almost the same doubg the 5 speed conversion, depending on cost for the components needed ans size clutch you are planning to use. You might get a 1600 motor cheaper, but has less power and you will want more power in the future.

Shop around and get quotes for everything you need, get the budget and go for it. Decide wgat you want and plan towards that.

To add to the above:

Don’t waste time and money fitting a 5 speed gearbox to a 1300. Use the money to upgrade to a larger capacity motor first.
