I read a thread for a MK2 tank upgrade and the MK3 had a intank pump with sender which you access from the inspection window under the passenger seat.

maybe lift the seat and take a look? got a haynes manual ? XD

the tank does not need to be empty to remove the pump/float setup but a low fuel level would be better for working with,
open the inspection panel, behind rear seat, undo the pipes and connector, unscrew the cap, then twist the pump setup, they can be abit stubborn, once it starts to move you will feel it unclip, then remove.
In fact you dont really need to take the pump out as the sender and pump are separate units with just the pipes feeding the through the sender and into the pump, so if you can just get the float setup only then swap the pipes onto the float and you sorted.

lol i just fitted it, didnt solder (would win a darwin award for soldering over an open fuel tank) or epoxy the wires.... it should be fine right? like it wont catch some spark or anything? previous wire was broken and hanging as well

i am new on this platform i bumped into it while searching for answers why my vw mk2 fuel gauge goes up or down when i turn....

So my question is does the shape of the float mattera can it be the cause since i changed my float and replaced with another type...tje one i removed was round and i replaced it with black rectangular one....

Did you replace gauge sender in the same orientation as before removing? Turning its irientation will cause this due to the fuel liquid shlossing around in the tank when you turn.

Best way to calculate fuel consumption is to full tank completely and drive a 200km or so and then refill again and take the amount of fuel refilled and divide the km reading by that amount. Then you have the closest to correct fuel consumption calculated. Guessing by putting 12L in and driving 70km is not the right way. 70/12= 5.8km/l. That might be close to right, but you will only know the true value on a tank to tank full.
