Hi
Looking for one of these in the JHB area. Anyone know where I can get one? Crazy Detailer is unfortunately out of stock.
I want one that plugs into my Karcher - and that puts down some proper foam...
Thanks!

Thanks. They getting stock tomorrow.
Assuming that I should also get the Avalanche foam? Any pre-wash alternatives other than AF?

Some swear by Avalanche but yes there are other alternatives.
I personally either use Valet Pro Advanced Neutral Snow Foam or Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II for pre-foaming.
I also use Valet Pro Citrus Pre-wash as a pre-wash (i.e. before even putting foam on the car), but AF do make a similar product called Citrus Power.
The Valet Pro and Chemical Guys stuff can be found at our other detailing forum sponsor, Crazy Detailer.

Yeah - I had a look at those and there are unfortunately more bad reviews than good ones... They are supposedly inconsistent and don't put down the foam that these other lances are capable of.
They are a lot cheaper though so it may make sense?
From your experience - are you able to put down the thick "snow" foam, or is it runny?

Well I've been using mine for just over a year and with the right soap it works awesome. I'm able to put down thick snow foam.

I have used both the Karcher one and a proper version (like the ones AF/Crazy Detailer sell) and I can assure you there is no comparison between the 2 in terms of performance.
It is simply a case of you get what you pay for.
Do I think everyone should own a proper foam cannon, yes. Do I think everyone can justify the cost, no. Is the Karcher better than nothing, yes.

A dedicated snow foam product will work better than a shampoo blown through a foam cannon

Agree - good point. There are some exceptions though - one that springs to mind is Meguiars Gold Class, which not only comes out fairly thick, but also actually cleans quite well too.
Also, thick and clingy type foam doesn't always equate to better cleaning, for example Avalanche is not a thick clingy type snowfoam, where as Maxi Suds II is, and VP ANSF sits somewhere in the middle. Extended dwell time (the clingy types) allow the foam more opportunity to break down the dirt. The theory behind the more runny ones that they will flush the loosened dirt away.
Much in the same way as expensive doesn't always mean better, and cheaper doesn't always mean inferior.
With the plethora of products available it can become a bit of a minefield trying to find something that works, FOR YOU, but when you do, my advice is to keep using it, and use it often.
Regular maintenance is easy maintenance

It's actually pretty clingy, took me a while to get the dilution right...
Haven't tried the VP one, willing to wash my car on saturday?

Looks simple enough.
Will try out a bottle of this and thereafter try the VP stuff - seeing that I'm getting the AF lance... I must say - these pre-wash solutions are properly expensive!
So as per the process:
- High pressure rinse
- Bug / tar removal if necessary
- Pre-wash foam
- Rinse
- Two bucket method wash
Edit: The background track to that AF video is from Angus and Julia Stone's (
http://youtu.be/JHKSqUtrNfw) Proper awesome track.
Edit: Just read Lawrences post on the "Ultimate Detailing Guide" again - forgot about that!

Hi guys
Just thought I'd post a quick update on our foam cannons. I was meant to have them in stock today however there has been a delay with the ship in PE. Foam cannons along with the other AF products will be in stock by next week Wednesday. (Fingers crossed). Apologies for the delay guys.

I use a courier service which is door to door delivery and for orders r800 and over shipping is free
Just place your orders online
