Dicktator 60-2 Help

Post by BADBOY »

Hi guys,

I need some assistance with my unit. I replaced my Dicktator Standard unit on my Golf two weeks ago and went with the following:
-60.2 Unit
-2.0 ADY with Crank angle Sensor
-Golf Four Pin coil pack
-New GW Crank Angle sensor (magnetic)

The issue I am having is that after hooking up everything, the unit is not picking up timing. The lead wire going to crank angle sensor(thick red one) has blue/white and shield(Gnd), I wired up as (pin1 blue,pin2 white,pin3 shield/gnd) onto the three pin GW unit. The unit has been sent to Dictator for testing and has been given a clean bill of health.

Could the harness or magnetic pickup be causing the issue?

Thanks

Doesnt it need the hall type sensor instead of the magnetic one?

Yip very difficult to distinguish between the two types of senders, you might have the wrong sender in there. I normally check it with a multimeter - if you get a resistance reading between pin 1 and 3 it's a Hall type sender and if you get a reading between pin 1 and 2 it's magnetic. Default for Dicktator 60-2 is Hall, you only get magnetic if you specify you want it...

Sensor needed from GW is part number 10703. Hooked one of these up to Dictator 60-2, checked on the laptop if I get engine rpm reading while cranking and voila. Working. Shout if you don't come right with the wiring, can double check mine.

Eish I was not aware of that(i can kick myself)...will make a turn to GW tomorrow and ask for the hall type.

Which Goldwagen? Phone Wikus or Ashley at Goldwagen Delarey. Got mine from there and I checked the invoice last night.

Does dictator only work with hall units? I'm running a single magnetic pickup from a VR6 in my ADY with no hassles. On spitronics though.

You have to know what (60-2) box you've got and use the right sensor...

Swap the Pos and trigger wires around and try again. Is your laptop connecting to the Dicktator? (Bar going green)

PM me your e-mail address so that I can send you the Dicktator write-up...

Are you running wasted spark?

I'll send you the same maps I sent to Pieta, his ABF started up right away on one of them.
