Car switched off and not starting *Durban*

Post by Claude7 »

I have a Polo Bluemotion 1.2 TDI for less than 4 months which I purchased brand new. I have had two break downs in this period, one been in Joburg and the other in Durban. The most recent one been in Durban, which occured on 23 December 2013. That resulted in me not having a car for two of three weeks of my holiday which i spent in Durban. In this breakdown my car just switched off in the middle of the road which resulted in me trying to manoeuvre around traffic to get to safety until the tow truck arrived. I complained to VW customer care in Cape Town on my situation and that I needed to be in Joburg for the new year. After numerous calls to customer care and the dealership where my car was been repaired with no success, the new year pasted with me stranded in Durban. The dealership told me for the past two weeks that they can't find the fault. After many complaints to customer care and informing them that I start work on 6 January 2014, they hired a car for me to drive up from Durban to Joburg. Now im in Joburg, still with no car. This is the third week that I don't have my car and the technicans still can't find the fault. :( This is my third car in 3 years, previous been a new Audi S3. I will never ever consider buying a VW after all this and will not suggest it to anyone.

Have you dealt with the VWSA customer connect centre?
If you have, escalate here:

This is not acceptable. They will have to give you a replacement or another new car. Contact you bank and inform them about this situation.

@MeanTDI, Yes the car is still in Durban. They said it will be repaired there and then sent to Joburg.

@Sinbad, Yes, I am currently in contact with VWSA customer connect centre, was from the very beggining. They was the one that hired a car for me to drive from Durban to Joburg. Thanks for the infomation, will certainly escalate this issue.

@Tdi jetta 4 ever, This is exactly what I've been requesting but VWSA says that I have to go back to the dealership that I purchased the car and when I went there the manager says its VWSA problem. So it's the blaming game now and I'm caught in the middle. Will certainly contact my bank for advice as I am currently paying for somthing I don't have.

My car is nowhere from been repaired. These incompetent people took a sample of the fuel this week to check for contamination, maybe they tried to blame it on me. Anyways they plan back-fired as the fuel results were perfect. So it’s been like 5 weeks now and they still don’t know what’s the problem. Does anyone know the contact details of a personal high up in VW, be it South Africa or Germany. I am really getting tired of these people.

Contact the bank and ask them to cancel the purchase , then go and buy another 1 from another dealer.

If you are not happy they can cancel it.

Try to contact VW in Germany directly, I can't remember the issue, but I remember someone going over VW SA straight to VW in Germany and getting their issue resolved asap.
