Polo 1.9 Tdi 6 speed gearbox in a jetta 4 1.9 Tdi ?
Does it fit? Any modifications needed? Is the gear ratios the same as the 5 speed jetta box except for the 5th and 6th gear?

Re: Polo 1.9 Tdi 6 speed gearbox in a jetta 4 1.9 Tdi ?
yes, because if you take your 5speed now, you cant select a 6 gear right?
so even if you put a 6 speed box you need the cables to get 6th.
get the entire unit.

I'm sure you need different shafts and obviously the starter and clutch kit. The reason why you can not shift to sixth now is because you have a 5spd box, it is not necessarily a shifter restriction, just make sure before you buy one. AFAIK the 6spd box also has no speedo gear.

the clutch is a must...he said modifications...its not exactly a mod...porno_ster wrote:I'm sure you need different shafts and obviously the starter and clutch kit. the 6 speed reads speed from the wheel speed sensor ,of the abs system....
im sure the 5 speed jetta also uses speedsensors....

The question is why you would want to do the swap...Is there reasoning behind why you intend doing this, current box broken so you need a replacement?

Re: Polo 1.9 Tdi 6 speed gearbox in a jetta 4 1.9 Tdi ?
Yes i might get a 6 speed box from someone i know, and yes my box needs replacement as the 3 and 5th gear is grating.dazza wrote:The question is why you would want to do the swap...Is there reasoning behind why you intend doing this, current box broken so you need a replacement?
I think it should be better to get the original 5 speed box then. I dont want to get a other clutch kit etc. That will be costing too much.

Re: Polo 1.9 Tdi 6 speed gearbox in a jetta 4 1.9 Tdi ?
Nope, the gearbox has a speedometer sender (G22) on it. It scans a sender wheel on the diff. It's located below the cable shift cable mounting plate.waynemodz wrote:the clutch is a must...he said modifications...its not exactly a mod...porno_ster wrote:I'm sure you need different shafts and obviously the starter and clutch kit. It depends which 6 speed box it is , the sportline box only have a reverse light switch on it,nothing else.

Re: Polo 1.9 Tdi 6 speed gearbox in a jetta 4 1.9 Tdi ?
I Went to the local performance shop yesterday,
theres a guy who tried to change over to 6speed...
he's looking for a 5sp now, he says its kak loads of modifications.
so if u do pursuit this, i hope its for a good coarse.
sometimes parts come cheap but getting them to work is expensive.
like my bigturbo i got @ R1800, i still need R5000 for nozzles, another R2500 for manifold ...all because...
i got a big turbo haha...it woulda been cheaper to just get a bolt on cupra turbo. same concept.
it be cheaper to stick to 5sp
