Velo flux capacitors

Post by nacho! »

After finding this thread on spark plugs for the Citi FI engine or more specific velo one.
http://vwclub.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=147097

I'm suffering quite a bit on fuel economy on this car. 11km/l avg chilled driving style

What is the correct spark plug gap on these engines? Mine is measured on 0.034" or 0.864mm
Currently have Bosch on the right and my old Carb Chico's NGK's on the left. Is the color normal?

I found the gap to be 0.7mm
Does a velo have a knock sensor?

Spark plug on the right is pretty much the correct burn, spark plug on the left is fouling up, so the heat range of the spark plug could be too cold, or the gap could be incorrect.

Have a look at the below picture... it is pretty much behind the dip stick.

It doesn't work very well in the first place, so if it goes, I doubt you would even notice.

If I were you I would check your water temp sender and MAP sensor.

What should the Ohmage read on the MAP and Water temp sender and which pins?

Interesting I've disconnected the MAP sensor before (just to check if it's working) and the car runs like it has an 276 Cam in it, I assume it over fuels running on a base map

I'l take a reading today and will appreciate it if anyone else can do the same to compare the values for future reference

Thanks much for the advice

1.6 carb motor converted to 2.0 MP9, so that is where the old fuel pump used to bolt onto.

On the factory MP9 motors (like yours) there is a block breather there.
