Hi
My wipers decided to f*ck out.
The metal brackets that go from the wiper motor to the arms look like they the culprit because the keep slipping out.
Do you guys have anything i can use?
thanks

I have them same problem - the wiper arm fits into a little 'cup' type thing and this eventually wears out, causing the arm to drop out the cup.
I have cable ties them in place and it has been running like this for about 2 years now without issue

.
I once got a price from the Stealerships for a replacement..... and well.....I decided to stick to the cable tie solution.
If GW can come to the party with the pricing, I may take one too....

Ok i'm with you
It's the wiper mechanism that worn or should i say the plastic clips onto the ball section. Now you can only buy this as a complete unit from VWSA. It is crazy expensive, i think the last price i got was about 2.5k .
If you want i will check the price again. But unfortunately there is no cheep option to fix this problem

yes there is.... its called cable ties
But yeah Viper, that's the feedback I got to - a whole mechanism for a f**kload of cash
Perhaps one of the engineering type dudes can fabricate something for us at a reasonable price?

Look, while it works, it is not ideal - if the cable tie is not tight enough, the arm drops out, and too tight and it tends to creak like a muthafucka.... it is also not the most sightly of solutions....
Was thinking someone on here (calling Magsta) could manufacture a replacement out of something other than cable ties...

Ok so managed to get these uploaded.
So basically I just cable tied the arm (that keeps dropping down out the cup) onto the black plastic trim that runs in front of the front windscreen.
Very primitive and fugly, but it has grafted so far...

Don't tie it too tight or it pulls the plastic trim down and makes **** creak....
It needs to be just tight enough to hold the arm in place.
Carry spare cable ties in the car in case it snaps... Which it may if you make it too tight in the beginning.

Hi guys
Currently experiencing the same issue on my passenger side...I have contacted GW Mayfair.According to them its R250 per arm(bushing included) but then i phoned GW De la Rey and they said they dont stock it at all...Any idea if they really do sell the linkage arm? VW hatfield wants R2150 exl vat...FML!!

Guess I'll give this a try,its rainy season been pissing cats and dogs...as soon as u increase the speed of the wiper it drops out of the cup.Never thought of tying it like this...my cable tie skills sucks

Thanks for the great idea!!!
