Fark that'll be loud by bypassing both boxes, GTI sounds like a tractor on steroids with a straight pipe.

I'm gonna buy a t304 stainless steel 63mm 3 box flowtech catback next year. Apparently R2800 for it, shipped to JHB.

nice setup that...

still contemplating doing a bypass valve for days I feel like being a hooligan and so I can at least come home late at night without waking neighbours etc...

best of both worlds...

Idiot Question : would the bypass valve not need a different map than the full pipe?

interesting, but how much weight will that system add compared to a normal system?

no you will not need a different map for the straight through setup :hi:

Why? won't they behave differently regarding turbo spool?

nope, the exhaust after the DP, the "cat-back" section doesn't do much except for the noise

DP makes the biggest difference to spool etc...

Also it's low down, so the weight won't affect handling etc enough to make it noticeable....

nicely built but 2 things make me wonder if its worth it.
Assuming these are straiht through boxes, is there really a restriction?
and why does he close off the silenced exhaust when the bypass is opened?

even if the turbo spools differently the ecu can compensate rather easily. hell the turbo spool is different depending on what gear you are in.

Europe has some pretty hectic noise level laws...if the police reckon your is too loud and the take it to test it and it is...well big fine coming your way

so this is a way of getting around that...so you install a heavily silenced setup for around town/popo etc and then on highway/track etc open it up and let rip

closed off the silenced section to prevent some gas going through their, I imagine it plays havoc on the sound with different resonating frequencies?

those silencers are massive btw, that silenced setup should be VERY quiet...

could be ECU, a electronic boost controller signal switching on a relay at a set boost pressure, or even a simple on/off switch

depends what you want out the system

ooh gotcha, didnt realise about the noise laws.
resonace could be the issue, but i doubt it would be louder than just the pipe. never know though.

Yip also a straight through system can become tiring to the ears quickly on a long trip/cruising...

not so much being louder, just farking around with the sound of the exhaust like with a sound setup in a car with various frequencies cancelling each other out or emphasizing them...maybe it makes the DSG fart sound like a wet one?
