Turbo Charging VR6

Post by YSGANIE »

Hi people, I am turbo charging a vr6 and I am going for a T3/4 turbo, how much power should i expect at 0.8 bar boost? Ive been told that a T66 turbo would make more power but then i would have to do the internals, is this a better option?

+1 with stu, its near impossible to give an indication what power a car will make at what boost when going BT. Theres too many variables, cams, internals, cr, manifolds, turbo, fuel, etc etc etc etc. one could make 50whp, and another 500whp. get my drift?

Hi. Firstly there are probably about in excess of 10000 combinations of wheels and housings combinations of t3t4 so what younare asking with the info younsupplied is how long is a piece of string. My guess is about 13cm.

I would not attempt a turbo conversion on VR6 without internals no matter what boost you intend running.

hey bud

I bought Blobs old VR6T. Internals should be done, i know blob ended up doing them after the pistons broke the first time around. He built it right with the forged internals and the car is still running three years later. You need to decide what sort of boost you want to run to decide on what compression pistons to get.

Mines currently has a leaking exhaust mani so only boosting 0.5bar. Mani will get replaced in a week or so and then its off to Panic for the Tune. When tuned, on a T61 the car made 230hp on 0.8bar on 95.

These motors are finicky. If you use the wrong wheel/housing combo's it will make less power than a much smaller turbo. You really gotta know your onions on these else you will fit a dozen different turbo's and they all won't make good power.
