Bluetooth on Golf VI TSI

Post by Zee »

Hi all.
My wife picked up her Golf VI TSI Comfortline yesterday.
Awesome car that.
The dealer said that the car is bluetooth "compatible/ready" but not "enabled" and that a full bluetooth is optional extra. He could not elaborate on what we need to buy to make it work. Anyone know what needs to be done to get the bluetooth to work and price at dealers or elsewhere?
Thx

Bluetooth enabled just means that the wiring has been done.

There is a Bluetooth module that is needed. not sure where it gets plugged in. I know on a merc its in the centre console. Not sure on the golfs.

Maybe wait for someone with a g6 to elaborate.

Hi Zee,

I'm driving the same car, also enquired with the dealer about the Bluetooth module when I took delivery, they wanted +-R8000 for it. Shopped around at a few sound fitment centres and managed to find one for R5000 fitted. Module is mounted in the dash behind the radio and a mic is wired through the car to wherever you choose.

I must say, it works like a bomb once it's in! Well worth it in my opinion. Did your wife get the RCD-510 (touch screen) radio?

Hey dude.
Thx for yr reply.
The only option the wife chose was leather seats. She has the standard radio.
Are u sure its R5k for the bluetooth, even though these cars come bluetooth enabled?
I know on the Audi A4's the bluetooth option is around R3.5k extra.
I also know of some guys who paid around R5k for the aftermarket (FISCON) bluetooth on their A4's, and their cars were not bluetooth enabled.

Hi Guys,

Just spoke to a technician at VW.

I can get a VW bluetooth adaptor for around R2k.
This links up your steering telephone function.
When someone callx you, you answer on the MFS and this mutes the radio at the same time. There is a mic fitted.
If you want to make a call, you dial from your phone and then talk via your mic and listen through your car speakers.

Far cheaper than R5k or even R8K

The cars do not have the wiring, you will have to buy the wiring harness to tap into the canbus system and route it to the poassenger seat where the module is installed.

The basic ones are on eBay.de for R1000, and you can also buy the harness there. Waste ofntime even buying it from VW and especially getting them to install it. They will screw itmup and charge you thousands to do so. For example thenwiring harness is custom Bluetooth only install, cos from factory the harnesses are different depending on the options and spec of vehicle.

As far as I'm aware, the module for my specific radio was more pricey due to the touch screen interface that it included. The standard one may very well be cheaper. Let us know what the end result is your side, would be interesting to know.
