Re: How to clean buffing/polishing pads?
During the process:
• Key is to do it often to avoid build-up of product (could create excessive dusting and also clogs the pad)
• With the pad attached to the rotary i crank it up to a low speed (pad face up) and run a soft bristle brush across the pad (Megs triple Duty brush or even a Toothbrush does the job)
• You could also hold an MF towel against it to clean up (but i find the brush works best)
After Detailing the vehicle:
• I find cleaning the pads sooner rather than later works best! (dont leave it overnight)
• Run the pad under warm water, using your thumbs to massage the pad - a drop of liquid detergent massaged in will finish it up.
• Rinse thoroughly - i press a clean MF into them to soak up the water and then place on drying rack velcro side up.
Side Note: alot of polishes are water based which makes cleaning the pads a pleasure!
