Jetta 3 Door Lock

Post by Curryboygp »

hey guys
i have a Jetta 3 Csx
now the car has central locking but i use the key as it does not have a remote
and the driver side door lock is missing so i open from the passenger lock.

now this morning i put my key in to lock the car and it just made a crack and now does not want to lock from the outside.
i took the car to a place in kempton that does central locking and they advised me that the lock is broken and i need a new one
i called goldwagen and they said its R2000.00

any ideas

Doubt its the lock. The remove the door handle and check the pin and ecentric with spring as that brakes and not the lock.

Hi dude. I saw a couple of people replace the door handles plus locks with a mk4 which can sourced easy enough at a scrap yard or even Barons. so give a go by asking around or even Goldwagon. Just my 2 cents

Remove the handle and check the pin that is on the door barrel, they snap off. Use a screwdriver in the lock slot to feel how the lock turns. If it works and the lock turns smooth the lock is good. Mk4 door locks should not work as the electronic plugs are different. The mk4 lock is also a full electronic lock were the mk3 locks are usually vacuum operated.
