Remove vinyl glue from paint

Post by vitchie »

Hi removed the poor vinyl job from my car, but now there is quite a lot of residue stickiness there. What is a safe way to remove it?

I used Meths on my ex ride. Don't know if it's the safest. Brasso might be the best option for the lest damage..  but not 100% sure. Would also like to know!

Dedicated tar remover, IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) or Eucalyptus Oil. The former (tar remover) you will need to get from Builders Warehouse or a Spares shop (drop me a pm if you don't come right), the latter (IPA and Eucalyptus Oil) should be available from your local pharmacy

Managed to get it of the roof, but quite a bit ran over onto the windows, would these products be safe on glass as well?

Lots of glue left behind is a sign of cheap vinyl, the signage co must have used budget vinyl.

I have seen this at apple signs, they use Meths to remove the glue with no damage to car. you need to use lots, make sure the cloth is very wet with meths, if the cloth gets full of glue balls then change cloths.

I would not use any polish! just stick with good old meths and a clean cloth
