A big thanks to all who attended.

An even bigger THANK YOU to Lawrence and Kyle for sacrificing a detailing weekend to share their knowledge, products and skills with us mere mortals.

I thought I had a decent amount of detailing knowledge after my numerous chats with lawrence. I learned a lot more, and it was awesome to have the hands on practice.

I learnt most importantly that I need to buy more stuff.

I big thanks to the sponsors as well, Auto Finesse & Crazy Detailer, as well as Dubcorp for use of the premises and the awesome boerie rolls and beers.

Even though the crowd was not as big as expected, I feel it facilitated a more focused and personal knowledge transfer.

Thanx to the gents that put it together and organized the free samples....
Forgot to mention that. Less people means more samples. :hurray:
"Did someone say free?"

From my side:

Firstly a heart felt thank you to both Crazy Detailer and Autofinesse. Without you guys the day would not have happened :hurray: The products sponsored for demonstration purposes and the free give-away's were appreciated by all, myself included. It was nice to play with some new products, ALL of which delivered IMO.

I also want to thank Bert for the free Dragon's Breath to play with - despite its horrid smell, it really works and I think you were all a little surprised at just how much iron was sitting on that paint  - for the most part - that is pretty normal - it is on most of your cars right now

For those of you who did not attend, here is a little summary of what went down:

Matt kindly dropped his White Audi off at Dubcorp with a fairly new set of aftermarket wheels on
Bert got one of his guys from the car wash upstairs (thanks bud) to perform a typical wheel wash on one of the wheels :fear: The point was to show that in addition to horrid methods (dirty cloth/dragged on floor, dirty 'shampoo' use repeatedly etc) the wheel still had loads of dirt on it. This is fine for the masses who treat their car as nothing more than an appliance, but for us who care, it is not.
Before tackling those we cleaned the arches using some APC and a fender brush
Then the tires using AF Imperial and a tire brush
Then the wheels with AF Imperial and a combo of Daytona Jnr / Wheel Woolies (Thanks Kyle) / Valet Pro Boar Hair Brush
We then removed the iron deposits using both Valet Pro Dragon's Breath and AF Iron Out
The car was then rinsed, presoaked using AF Citrus Power, pre-foamed using Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II and then washed using Lambswool mitts, 2 buckets (Obviaas) and AF Lather
Dried using Crazy Detailer Waffle Weave Drying Towels
The bonnet was then clayed using the unreleased sample clay from Crazy Detailer and ONR as lube
Various sections were taped off
Section 1: Autoglym SRP by hand on foam applicator
Section 2: Autoglym SRP by hand on MF applicator
Section 3: Autoglym SRP by DA on Tangerine Hydrotech pad
Section 4: AF Tripple by DA on a Crimson Hydrotech
Section 5: AF Tripple by DA on a Tangerine Hydrotech
Section 6: Autoglym SRP by DA on Tangerine Hydrotech pad
Section 7: Menzerna SF4000 on a Tangerine Hydrotech pad
Glass cleaned using AF Crystal
Rubbers cleaned using Shield Heavy Duty Rubber Cleaner
Rubbers dressed using Glossworx Silky Shine and Smartwax Smartdressing
Arches (not on the Audi, because they are not plastic) were dressed using unreleased Glossworx Undercarriage Dressing
The engine bay was given a very quick wipe down and dressed using Glossworx Undercarriage Dressing
Tires dressed using unreleased Glossworx Tire Dressing Gel and AF Gloss tire dressing
Final spray down using unreleased Glossworx Acrylic Detail Spray
Half  of Mitch's front seat was cleaned using BMW Leather cleaner - awesome stuff

Thanks to Rob for the use of the premises, which are looking  and the boerie roll

Lastly, thanks to all of you who came through to listen to me wax lyrical (pun intended) about my passion. It was great to transfer some knowledge and to see the bug start biting some of you  I had a blast and think we need to try and organise something like this more often.

Lawrence you talk alot of detailed info (pun intended), very impressed thanks alot man will definetly be giving away some of the horrid stuff i used to damage my cars paint with
as for car washes  they are proffessional paint destroyers rather wait for the free time to get stuff done with my own bare hands
