F@@K! That thing must handle like a BI@TCH! A tuned 2 lit 16V would be faster but less interesting IMHO

Very nice swop.. love that sound..
Here is some more info on the car..

Image

Q: How long have you owned this car?

A: I've had it since the middle of August, 2004.

Q: Is there anything unique about the history of this car?

A: Nope, it was just going to continue to rot in my boss's back yard.

Q: Why did you choose this car to purchase?

A: I came up with this wild hair to build a VR6 Rabbit, and I knew this one was just sitting. Plus, it had the wicked cool 70s striping on the sides.

Q: What other cars did you consider?

A: I didn't consider any others.

Q: What was your objective with this car?

A: Just to build the car I've wanted since I was 17.

Q: What tuning style would you describe this car as?

A: Daily Driver/Sleeper.

Q: Who helped you build this car?

A: I built it myself - I work at an independant VW shop.

Q: What makes your car special?

A: A VR6 in a 1700-lb car = fairly rare swap.

Q: What is your favorite part/feature/function?

A: I am a huge fan of the ABS brakes as well as the daily drivability of the car.

Q: Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?

A: I got drunk at a VW car show (WaterWagens) and was mad because there were no VR6 Rabbits there.

Image

Q: What don't you like about this car?

A: It is not all-wheel-drive - yet.

Q: What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?

A: Keeping motivated on such a time consuming project (it was all done at once - not a little here, little there, like most projects).

Q: How did you overcome the issue?

A: Mickey's ICE 40s played a huge part in the project.

Q: What would you change if you could?

A: I'd add awd, for sure.

Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?

A: I am at an 8 right now. I will reach 10 if I add a turbo and awd.

Q: What would you do to the car if money were no object?

A: I'd add a Haldex (4Motion) set-up and the Kinetic VR6 turbo kit.

Q: Who has been your biggest critic of this project?

A: Nobody really - everyone has been super supportive throughout the build.

Image

Q: What do your family and friends say about this car?

A: Everyone seems to like it, especially the ones that have ridden in it.

Q: What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car?

A: Most memorable was when I raced an E36 BMW M3, and beat him to 120-mph. Plus Boxsters are fun to mess with - they never see it coming.

Q: Has this car competed in any events?

A: Not yet, but It will come car season.

Q: What is your favorite place to drive this car?

A: The freeway.

Q: What is your ideal day with this car?

A: Pretty much any day a ginormously winged Civic tries to race me.

Q: Who gets to drive this car?

A: Myself, along with a few close friends - only people I really trust. The car can be a handful for the inexperienced driver.

Q: If your car had a motto, what would it be?

A: "Build it right the first time. If your mom could not pilot your car to the store without a 5-min. explanation of the 'quirks', you built it wrong."

Q: If you had to name your car, what would you name it?

A: I like "VRabbit."

Q: What was your previous project?

A: I also have a 16V turbo Rabbit.

Q: What is your next project?

A: I'm not exactly sure yet.

Q: What one word best describes your car?

A: Sleeper.

Q: Other info you'd like to share?

A: The car was built using basically 100% factory VW parts, except the coilovers. I just wanted a 100% daily drivable car. It is one of the most solid Rabbits I have ever driven and runs and drives just as nice as the 1996 Jetta VR6 I took apart to build it.

OMG!!!! I want 1 just like that - always wanted to to own a "falling aprt" mk1 but highly modded.

Pitch up next to an M3 and work him solid --
Poor guy wont race another MK1 after that. Hehe

Not to sure of the dyno power as as with most high power fwd drives - it starts wheel spinning on the dyno before it gets to peak .

Best quarter mile was 12.9 .... - some where there :d
