Relay for starter

Post by SHAUN »

How does one wire up a relay for the starter?
Does one use a normal 4 pin relay?
Which wire goes to what pin.

Thanx.

I just cut the original wire that goes to the starter solenoid, and did it this way:

I used a normal 4 pin 40Amp relay

Does one need a relay when the ignition is wonky ?? Always wondered why the need pops up for a relay to the starter.. Or is it an anti-theft sort of magodie in some way or the other...

The "original wire to starter" is the one from the ignition switch to the solenoid, cut that one and pop in the relay.
