Which car wash and polish ??

Post by Cypher_TDi »

Greetings all,

Ive got a Jetta4 mettalic green in color...

Im looking to get a good quality car wash and polish.
The paint is in decent condition. There are a few light scratches.

I've been looking at the Meguiars range... but i've never heard of it before, so i was just wondering if its any good?

If not, what other products/brands should i look at?

Thanks

Meguiar's is great, although there product range can be confusing at first due to it's sheer size and complexity  Another good, well priced brand that I have always loved, although it is not as readily available as Meguiars, is Autoglym

I personally like the Auto Glym range.

If you doing it all by hand then opt for the Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection...these 2 combined will give you a nice shiny finish and good protection from the elements

I use Meguiars Tech wash, & Meguiars Tech 2.0 Wax (New) - awesome products. To maintain the wax use Meguiars Ultimate Quik Detailer.

They work great but in between SRP and EGP you need to add a coat of wax... SRP is a paint cleaner with added fillers for scratches and EGP is 1 micron gloss sealent. Try a carnauba based product between the 2, like XXX from Chemical Guy's or 3m Paste Wax.

You'll find a longer lasting finish...

Surely you mean the other way round....sealant then wax ? As far as I am aware a sealant will not bond to a wax but a wax will adhere to a sealant......thoughts ?

Natural wax beads yet is pores thus lasts for a few weeks depending on the grade... I've seen the debate on Detailing World a few times to whether it's sealant, wax or wax, sealant... Seems either, other...not a set rule of thumb. Done it both ways round, and have never seen a diffs. Just always made sence to me to apply the sealent last to seal in the gloss.

What have you found?

I've always done it the other way round, sealant bonds to the paint with the cross linked polymers, etc and then a wax to top it off. Interesting...

SmartWax is great! But not along the lines of top grade Zymol and SwissVax which is mega carnauba content. SmartWax is carnauba based and offers great results and best bang for buck!!!! Give there wax a try, it's beautiful!
