Post by GTi4life »

Can someone tell me if it would be possible to fit either a 1.6 or 1.8 head onto a 1.3 block.
I know that u can fit a 1.8 head onto a 1.6 block, but thats it.

dont see why you cant, it'll bolt on fine.

whether it will work and how it'll work, thats a completely different question.

1.3 engines differ from the 1.4/1.6/1.8

even if it did bolt on - the compression will be super low

1.3 engine has different crank, different bore. it cannot be rebored to larger bores but apart from that its exactly the same. head obviously has smaller combustion chambers but as I said. it WILL bolt on and it probably will start.

what happens from then on remains to be seen, drop in compression due to the larger chamber in the head will probably make it even slower.. (if thats possible)

So what bout a 1.6 or 1.8 head on a 1.3 to lower the compression then go turbo route?obviously with correct turbo pistons and stuff. Think it will be worth it? 1.3T?

CR may end up going lower than 7.5:1 then you gonna have to boost reallly high like 1bar to make ordinary power...

not worth the effort

had one, threw an exhaust and gcam at it and it was ever so slightly more lively but thats about it. next step up is a new motor any way you look at it.

Head will fit, you need to plug the second smaller oil port.
The 1,3 only had the big middle one.
