Android Auto

Post by PeanutGTD »

Right, so i have had my golf since new from 2018 and have had 3 phones over that time. all i can say is my experience with android auto has not been great. frequent failed connections and last couple days does not connect at all. has anyone has similar issues? I'm going to try a different cable soon, just need to get one, i don't have a data cable with usb C to usb a other than the one that has been in my car.

I saw some posts to replace the usb a with a c but i don't know how good an idea that is. other option i guess is yank the complete unit and get one of those android systems but i don't know how good they are and how well all the cat systems will align with that regarding the settings and service info, so that might ne a bad idea also.

Sitting with a similar issue in my Amarok, my phone connected fine until one day, my wife's phone still connects, but mine refuses even with a different cable and updated app.

Frustrating part is the touch screen has also decided to go.
Car is still under warranty, but doubt VW would be cheaper than an Android unit and they won't repair it at VW, simply replace with oem unit at inflated prices, exceeding the warranty amount.

I had my previous GTI since 2017 and not a day’s issue with Android Auto. Worked perfectly.

ok, i have tried cleaning the port and the only message on my phone is use a different port or cable. so there is only 1 port so cant do anything about that and have tried 4 different cables with the same result. so who can you guys recommend to replace the usb port on my car? i will ask VW next week and see what they say.
