Cylinder 1 and 3 misfire

Post by maybeanothergolf »

Hi All.
I have a 1.4 TSI CAXA golf 6.

The latest issue is a consistent misfire on cylinder 1 and 3 that happens when I let off the throttle and coast, then when tipping back into wide open throttle I get misfires only on cylinder 1 and 3. I don't have a VCDS cable and setup, instead I have a thinkdiag and my phone, where I watch the misfire counters for each cylinder. It's always on nr 1 and 3, never on 2 and 4. It happens when cruising on the highway on a downhill, and then when going back uphill there are massive jerks and the misfire counters for 1 and 3 count up, sometimes so bad that the cruise control turns off.

Does anyone have any idea where to start diagnosing this latest issue? Any insight would be appreciated...

Thank you I swopped #1 with 2, and #3 with 4, couldn't yet recreate the misfires. But I did remove the intake and took pictures of the intake valves. It is not pretty. I don't know how to add pictures to a post but suffice it to say it's a horror show.
