Thank you for your feedback, I did test the battery as it is still under warranty, the vehicle is a VW currently, will await feedback, keeping my fingers crossed. By the way, will a performance software upgrade block them from doing the software upgrade on the vehicle ? will their systems pick up any software loaded on the vehicle?

Hi Guys, So my 2009 golf 5 Gti was part of the recall for a software upgrade, VW has done there necessary tests, 1 month later, I am told they need to get a Donor car to perform the same upgrade to see if it accepts. I cannot wait for this to happen and need my car sorted asap, can someone please assist or give me some advice, my part no is 1K0517614BD, I need to know what newer model pump will work / superseded too? As VW refuses to give me this info and wants me to order it from them at R48k+/-

I had exactly the same. I bought a pump from a scrapyard off a 2013 g6 gti and it works perfectly.

Good afternoon Gents, another question, i am trying to source a second hand abs pump, however which is the most important number to match, is it the part no on the control unit (electronic component) or the part number on the pump (round black part)? please advise, my part no's are 1KO907379AD (Unit) and 1K0614517BD (Pump). The super ceded no's are 1K0907375AH (unit) and 1K0614517BJ, will this work?

ABS/ESC Control Unit on your vehicle with Identification Number (VIN):WVWZZZxxxxxxxxx

Dear Sir Madam,

Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft in Germany has established that on vehicles of a limited production period the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) / Electronic Stability Control (ESC) control unit becomes thermally overloaded and the earth connection may be interrupted. Please refer to the Customer letter (attached) for details.

Should you have any queries please contact your preferred Volkswagen Dealer or call our Customer Interaction Centre (CIC) on 0860 434 737. When calling the CIC, select option 3 when prompted.

We regret the inconvenience but appreciate your co-operation.

Please contact your preferred Volkswagen approved Dealer as soon as possible to make an appointment. Please print out this mail which includes the VIN number of the affected vehicle and the attached document and bring these along with your Service Schedule when submitting your vehicle.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Sir/Madam
Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft in Germany has established that on vehicles
of a limited production period the Anti-Lock Braking System (“ABS”) /
Electronic Stability Control (“ESC”) control unit becomes thermally
overloaded and the earth connection may be interrupted. If the earth
connection is interrupted the ABS/ESC control unit fails and cannot help to
stabilise your vehicle, especially in critical driving situations, such as
oversteering, understeering or emergency stops and cannot reduce the risk
of skidding. This may increase the risk of an accident.

For safety reasons it is therefore necessary to carry out a software
modification on your vehicle. The work required will take approximately 30
minutes and will be performed free of charge. In some instances a longer
period may be required. Until the software modification has been carried out,
please keep the vehicle well within its handling limits by adjusting your speed
in advance to suit the visibility, weather, road and traffic conditions.

Please contact your preferred Volkswagen Dealer without delay to make an
appointment. Please bring this letter and your Vehicle Wallet with you when
submitting your vehicle.

Should you have any queries please contact your preferred Dealer or call our
Customer Interaction Centre (“CIC”) on 0860 434 737. When calling the CIC,
select option 3 when prompted.

If you have sold your vehicle or taken it out of service, please complete the
reply card reflected below and submit it to your closest Dealer.
We regret the inconvenience, but appreciate your cooperation.

Yours faithfully

"Long coding rejected"

Post by AshleyI »

Hi Guys, I seem to be having badluck with the abs pump on my car, nobody can assist me with trying to retrieve my old long coding for part no 1K0907370AD. I have bought 2 golf 6 pumps 1K0907379BJ (from a 2012 dsg) and 1K0907379AH (from a 2010 manual), i have tried all the revision codings etc, none of the codes are sticking, its gives this error " coding rejected error 12: sub function not supported or invalid format".

Please guys, if anyone can assist further, been struggling for 6 months now.

Hi all, I am new to the group. My name is Sameer. I am based in Durban and I have a Golf 6 Gti from brand new. My Abs/ESC has acted up. I read the posts and I only found out today that there was a recall. I was wondering if that will still apply, wishful thinking I guess. Any help with this

Welcome to the forum.

Your best bet would be to visit a VW dealership and ask them for assistance. I imagine that since you've owned the car from new they would have had your details and likely reached out if your car was affected.

But no harm in giving them a visit to be sure.

Thanks guys, I really appreciated. I spoke to a dealership today and they cannot pick up anything on their system for my car.

Still awaiting VW SA to get back to me.
