Factory Gearlock Citi Golf.

Hi all,

Any knowledge on this would help,

My '03 Citi Golf has the Factory Gearlock or what is left of it.

It seems the previous owner lost the key for the gearlock after locking it in gear because the flatbar is cut off, the base plate is loose and also missing 2 of the 4 screws/bolts.

I assume a new piece of flatbar can be welded on but what about the missing screws/bolts and key!
Can this be salvaged/fixed in any way?

Why would anybody still bother with gearlock? It really would probably stop only the most amateurish or beginner/opportunistic thief when you have left the car unlocked.
You can undo the links in a golf one and select a gear to drive away in almost as fast as selecting a gear from inside using only a small screwdriver.

I just want everything inside the car to function properly and this is one of those items that bothers me because it is their but broken.

My plan was to restore it, to atleast have it working again and also to add to the list of security barriers but from what is said it seems this gearlock will just be a feature/showpiece.
