Hi guys. I recently had to do an engine swap from 1.3 to 1.6 as the 1.3 engine seized up. It's on a 1992 citi golf. The engine that was put in is 1.6i AFX engine I believe is from a citi life / rox. Due to finance I'm currently running it on the carburetor and 4speed gearbox for now. First thing I wanna do is get a 5speed gearbox for it when I have enough money. So if anyone has a one for me please let me know ( based in Alberton)
Today wanted to just check the spark plugs on the car. They were tightened so much I had to use force to get them out. And on one of the plugs the ceramic insulation cracked so could not use them again.
Anyway the plugs in the car were NGK BP6ES. All shops closed I have an old set of Bosch W6DC which is the Bosch equivalent and put them in.
So first question:
Ate the NFL BP6ES or Bosch w6dc the correct plugs for this engine taking into account that I'm running it on a carburetor ?
My next question :
Is there anyone in or close to Alberton that has a timing light that would be willing to help me out to check and set the timing on the car please?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Spark plugs and timing.

Re: Spark plugs and timing.
Hi guys. I forgot to mention that reason I wanna do the timing is because the car is pinging. So please anyone willing to help me sort out the timing on the car please.

Re: Spark plugs and timing.
You will probably need to re-jet the 1.3 carb for more fuel on the 1.6 motor.
The 1.6i distributor does not have vacuum advance on it. Your 1.3 motor distributor did have vacuum advance, so swap out the distributors, connect the vacuum lines to distributor abd carb as it was on 1.3 motor and adjust timing as you are using a carb on this motor.
