It was unplugged for the first time in 19 years and 3 months 30 minutes ago. So, no I didn't drive with it unplugged.
The engine should start with it unplugged. Takes a few revolutions though.

You know your Goeters hey!

Swings a little and then starts. Should I drive like that and see if it still does it?

Could it be crank sensor?
Lol

Drive with it unplugged, if the car does not act faulty then u know that's the problem. If it still does have the issue then it may be the crank sensor - at that point u gonna have to plug in the cam sensor, clear all dtcs and wait for it to happen again so u could see what code it's throwing.

Won't cause any issues driving with the sensor unplugged, might just be a wee bit heavier on fuel.
The cam sensor helps the injectors fuel at the correct time, so avoid driving hard while unplugged.

When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on :driving:

I ran fine all day, then I wanted to move the car quick and it just swings. It does start again, so very intermittent.

Where is this crank sensor located and how much of a job is it?

It's on the block behind the oil cooler.

Most times the oil cooler has to be opened up to get the crank sensor out - replace the oil cooler oring if loosening it.

I missed reading updates on the Polo and good to hear that it is going strong even lately its giving issues.

Its showing its age.
