Picked up my first GTI at the end of june. Finally started using it as my daily and very happy. Car has a few niggles to sort out. Looking forward to learning from the vw community.

Congratulations bro on your buy. I hope you're enjoying your GTI. I am considering purchasing one myself, most likely only in next year sometime because I'm still saving up. I want to make sure that I have enough saved up just in case there are some unexpected expenses. That being said...I've heard some nightmare stories on the VW forum as i was reading through some threads on the MK6 Gti.

My question is...is it worthwhile investing in a VW Golf Mk6 gti? And if not...what is a similar or better alternative? I should have saved up about R170K hopefully by November 2024 if all goes well and I'm hoping to find a daily drive with some kick! lol Nothing to extreme, just something I can reliably drive on a daily but something that will still have some boost when I feel like showing off with the boys.

I was hoping I could get something for around R130K and I could use the rest to ensure all is good and maybe have some extra left for basic mods like Adding A Cold Air Intake, Cat-back exhaust, Down pipe, Turbo-back exhaust, bigger Intercooler, ECU Tune etc...I'm not a car bof but I'm starting to read up a lot more on what works and what doesn't. So I'm keen to learn and hopefully get some sound advice on this forum and others before November next year.

Hello and welcome.

The GTi is such a lovely vehicle for all-round use.
Works well as a daily; spirited enough when you wanna have some fun; decent for month end shopping; great for taking your SO for a nice chilled evening; and just as a car that makes you feel happy on the inside.

Yes, I love my GTi and so will you!
