Hi all,

Any info on the GTX made in South Africa during 1983 - 1984?

I'd hazard a guess, but its probably exactly the same as any other golf produced in that period. Just with a different set of trim and badges.
2014 - VW Jetta 6 - 1.6 TDi DSG

1980 - VW MK1 GT - 1.8 Carb - https://www.vwclub.co.za/forum/viewtopi ... 1&t=153861

Racing is meant for the RACE track - deal with it...

Actually it was specced similar to a 4door GTI with a 1600 carb engine but with a Pierburg carb like on the Passata of that era.

To my knowledge, the GTX was machanically a GTS but the trim was pretty much GTI.
The GTS had the same Pierburg carb (2B5). Engine code was FR. Around 65 kW / 85 hp. Was also used in the European Scirocco 1.

The GTX was my absolute dream Golf of that era. But I came close with my GTS...
