MAF/ EGR Delete

Post by CLN1.6TDI FK »

Hi Guys,
I had a MAF and EGR delete done on my 1.6 tdi.
Performance increased😁.
I have just one question that is keeping me up, will connecting a maf restore the ESP and pull away assist?
The ESP and pull away assist switched of when my original maf that was not working was unplugged, well and now after the software was done it stays off. Any idees?

Hmm, deleting the EGR is a very normal thing to do, but deleting the MAF is just a bit silly. The ESP/ABS modules look for the load (essentially torque) value that is metered and communicated by the MAF over the CAN network, in order to process engine torque related commands like traction control torque reduction). By removing the MAF, you interrupt those processes and the ABS/ESP module reacts by disabling ESP as a safety precaution.

There is a way to get around it, but it normally involves patching the ECU to look elsewhere for the load value. Not something that anyone is going to do readily for a basic Stage 1 tune.

In short, plug the MAF back in, the tune should not make any less power with it plugged in, and if it does, that's an issue with the tune.

Hi THANAS
Thanks for the reply, Iwill check what happens when I replace the maf.
There is reason behind deleting the maf but it's not worth getting into now.

Are u getting fault code 7329 implausible signal?

These cars are a headache with the dieselgate kak
When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on :driving:

Hi yes I get implausible signal fault. Fitted a new maf fault remains. I drove from EL to PTA no problem but on the return started getting P0670 and P0544 errors, limped home for about 100km's. I reset faults on the road with my scanner but took it slow afterwards. Now car not starting, only if pulled by another car does it start.
