CITI Golf starter / flywheel problems

Post by ssshannah »

Hi guys i have a chico 1800 carb golf 1 converted from a 1400 to 1800 motor. I recently upgraded my clutch and flywheel to 210mm now my starter refuses to engage with the flywheel, reconditioned the starter bought a new bendex and still wont start the car. flywheel is a euromax flywheel bought it second hand but in mint condition. the starter swings but does not turn the engine. also replaced the starter bushings and the bushing on the gearbox.

Have you checked it outside of the car? Maybe the holding coils is stuffed. Take it out and use jumper cables to test it

I did get it checked the electrician pulled the starter out and tested everything he says it cannot be the starter and my mechanic says the flywheel it's good he did the clutch and flywheel for me. So I'm confused and vw club forum does not yield any good results I thought someone would have gone through the same thing.

Thank you so much Chucker
