VWCSA Presents: Run What You Brung V2

Post by Sebz »

Hello everyone

Due to Michelin Cup hosting an event on our original proposed date (in May) as well as a number of other events being planned for the last weekend of May by other event organisers, we decided to move this year's edition of our drag racing event to the first weekend of June - specifically Sunday the 2nd.

This also means that we should all have received our salaries by the time the event rolls around.

We return to Redstar Raceway in Delmas for another awesome day of drag racing - those who attended last year had an absolute blast! The facilities were impeccable, the food good, and the drinks cold.

This time, though, the event promises to be even more exciting - 1/4 mile drag racing will be timed!

Image

During the morning, we'll open the track for some practice runs and call-outs.

As the day progresses, we'll allow call-outs and grudge races.

The fastest in each class will be crowned the respective winners and we'll hopefully have some cool prizes up for grabs again (any sponsors keen on getting involved here can drop us a mail: vwcsa.events@gmail.com )

FWD
AWD
RWD
N/A
2 Wheels

Depending on registrations, we may add more classes to make it more competitive.

Date: Sunday 2 June
Time: 8:00am - Racing starts PROMPTLY at 9:00am
Venue: Redstar Raceway
https://goo.gl/maps/RLqnH8vt6UR2
Cost:
Pre Registration:
VWCSA Members - R450
NON-VWCSA Members - R550
On the day:
VWCSA Members - R500
NON-VWCSA Members - R600

Long sleeves, long pants, closed shoes, and helmets are required.

REGISTRATION FORM:

https://vwclub.co.za/forms/REDSTAR_ENTR ... 2019_1.pdf

VWCSA advertisers are invited to attend, please confirm space with your committee member.

Peace.

Entrance is free for spectators and there is a grand stand alongside the track, but it’s not shaded

Glad to see this event on the calendar again - hopefully it will be well attended.

Sebz, I'd like to get some cool drone footage on the day - would this be allowed?

@Tander as discussed via WhatsApp, I'll check with Redstar. So far I haven't had an answer back yet, but that' probably because Friday's are always slow.

@DotDubb DubRun 2016 rematch?

@B_rad

Drone footage allowed by Redstar. However, if anyone else would like to use their drones, please let’s be mindful of our surroundings and avoid doing anything to endanger the drivers or other drones.
