Have done the EGR cooler bypass and EGR delete via software this weekend.

Now I need to monitor if this has fixed the problem. Fingers crossed.

Hope your headaches is gone.

What is the performance like after the mapping was done?

Quite a big difference hey, feel sorry for the tyres lol. I did ask for a map to keep the delivery as close to stock as possible, feels stock when driving decently, but really wakes up when smashing it. Still adapting and going to get the cat and dpf out, will see if that makes any more difference to the power delivery

So far so good, have noticed a change in the way the exhaust fumes smell as well - doesnt have the hint of coolant smell any longer - I hope this isnt just my mind playing games on me'. Anyway have to drive for atleast 1000kms to know that i've had some success, its only been about 300kms thus far.

The car is booked in on Monday for DPF and CAT delete. Replacing with 76mm downpipe. Turns out getting the DPF and CAT off on this car is quite a mission due to space constraints so will need atleast 2-3 days at the exhaust shop for this to get done. Hope all goes well :-)

seeing as i was going to get the software and the downpipe done I was interested to see what gains would be had. I had a stock dyno run so i could guage the increase as well as power delivery.

Car is rate at 110kw from factory so either this Dyno is reading at the fly, or VW have their figures under quoted. Made 110kw at Rally Cross Motors in Durban - which I think is a wheel power dyno???

Image

Will do another run after the pipe is in and i'm certain that the coolant problem has been fixed.

Seems like it, anyway the intention was more to get the shape of the graph and a base reading for gains as opposed to peak figures

Need to start the run at 1500 rpm not 2000. no good on diesels as you can't see the initial torque rise.

Thanks panic, will mention that the next time I go. Which gear should the run be in?

Don't know what gearbox, but 3 for a 5 speed, 4th for a six speed and 5 for a 7 speed. But gear makes no difference if the engine is loading ok.

Coolant issue sorted now? When the stock turbo on my ex-Jetta 5 TDI exploded, I opted to fit the Sportline turbo. After @Dieter spent almost 40 minutes trying to remove the EGR cooler, we decided it's not going back on.. LOL. I also then opted to delete the EGR and throttle body to replace with a race pipe straight to intake. Software was needed to code all out, but in the end, less oil and coolant issue to worry about, car still running strong about 40,000k's later.

Reaching the clamps to by pass the EGR cooler was a mission, especially working with jack stands, but I made a plan

Yes it seems to have been sorted. Downpipe is in as well and she is going very nicely :driving:

Hi, sorry for the delay, I missed this post.
