Dictator 60-2 no trigger

Hi I need some advice, car was running good and I took of positive battery cable to work pn alternator and after that it wont start again, I only get red light when cranking as if there is no signal from crank sensor, tested sensor and found I dont get 5v signal to crank sensor from ecu when car is switched on, any advice?

That is a magnetic trigger - it does not get 5v. It generates it's own voltage.

It has 3 wires

yes it does. 1 is signal negative 2 is signal positive and 3 is the shield wire.

How can I test it, car never had a problem starting and what else can I look at, red light comes on but none of the other lights come on when cranking

to test you either swop it or you use a oscilloscope. With a scope you can see if the trigger is giving you a proper output signal.

Thanks, I think I am going to try and get a new one, only details I have on the one that is being used now is that it has been bought at goldwagen and that it is a opel part, all it say on the sensor is DS 1806 and the nr 180817A
