Re: Mk7 TDi 110kw Cambelt change - parts to change/brands to use

Post by Gti3 »

Hi guys

Does anyone know what mileage the cambelt needs to be done on this car? I can't seem to find it in the manual/service book. The car is at 105k currently.

If memory serves me correctly, VW recommends 5 year/120 000km change intervals with a check at 90 000 km.

some cambelts have a history to break between 90 - 105k despite dealer's advising only at replace or check 105k, keep in mind that are many factors that affects it life span, water pump , tensioner, Environment etc.....

best be safe and I would also suggest replacing it at 90k or at 5years, which ever comes first.

Yep
Get it done, ASAP before it breaks.

Re: Mk7 TDi 110kw Cambelt change - parts to change/brands to use

Hi Guys

More questions

Have any of the technical guys on here carried out this work before i.e. cambelt change on the mk7 Tdi highline? Can you please confirm if the waterpump and crank pulley should be changed as well ?

In terms of the belt, tensioner and rollers - Would you advise against using Continental, Topran or FEBI Bilstein replacement parts ? or are these of good quality?

always better to do the pump too. Continental anf febi are OE manufacturers. No issue there.
