Audi TT mods

Post by kaiser12 »

Hi! All,

I have a 2.0l Audi TT mk2 Quattro with 40000km on the clock. I want to do some mods on the car software and maybe a turbo upgrade. What I would like to know is what is the best approach to take as far as what i have in mind. I have been reading about hybrid turbos and so on but do not want to plunge into something I don't have enough understanding of so some advice would be appreciated. I am not sure what turbo the TT comes with as standard any ideas from those in the know would be great. Or should I go with a totally new turbo, the issue of cost also comes to mind

Also as far as the software is concerned, what would be the best options etc and with all of this what could, one realistically expect in terms of real usable power gains and reliability.

Thanks in advance.

First find a tuner you trust and go from there.

Thanks for the reply.
The problem is exactly that, which tuners come highly recommended as I am new to this and don't want to spend time and money chasing my tail and getting nowhere.

Call a couple of the reputable dealers..

Some of them are already forum sponsors and I would start there.

Vag Technik
Insane Racing

If the car has the 2.0TFSI motor, you wont need to swap turbos just yet.

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, it does have the 2.0TFSI motor, why would it be premature to swap out the turbo at this stage? Apologies for the noob questions just need to understand how this all works and then follow a logical approach

Because there is a load of power to extract from that motor before even considering a turbo swop.

Things to start with could include:
Intake / Downpipe / Exhaust / Tune.
Basic stage 2 (VAG cars mostly refer to upgrades in stages...)

What year model, is it a BWA TFSI motor as found in the MKV GTI or the later models post 2010 with the TSI as found in the MKVI GTI?

Either way you can do DP, Intake and software with great results. I had a 2009 BWA TFSI model and did Intake, DP, S3 intercooler and had a Revo stage 2 map, ran really well when it eventually found traction  Mine was not Quattro so traction was terrible

Will post pics soon. I am eager to have some mods done, I am getting bored with the current power. There is a slight lag when pulling away and it irritates me.

The facelift models have the EA888 gen 2 motors. Similar to the mk6 GTI but with valve lift on the exhaust side so the TT has much better midrange torque. A stage 2 flash with intake and downpipe will give you a decent power increase and should keep you happy.

Go get a stage 1 flash whilst you get a DP and intake sorted, will already put a bigger smile on your face.
The TSI motors are torque monsters, my MKVI GTI made 420nm ATW with the basic mods and 185WKW

Are the results more or less similar irrespective of the tuner you use or are there specific recommendations? Also with the DP with minicat or not
