Golf 7 GTI Wheel KW (Standard)

Post by Brat Boy »

Hi Guys

Please can someone tell me what is the Standard wheel kw reading on a Golf 7 GTI, I dynoed my GTI this friday however I dont believe the reading was correct. I do know not all dyno's are the same. Some give high readings some have low. I just need the baseline WKW reading so I know where I stand. The only thing changed on the car is the exhaust, car has 61000km on the clock.

Kind Regards

Exactly becuase of that dyno differences it is useless giving you a baseline fugure. Only thing that will make sense to you is other mk7 on that specific dyno, not somebody else's dyno.

Hi Panic

Understood on that aspect, however I got a reading of 176WKW with 403NM Torque, this was on the US Powersport Dyno. I know the factory spec was supposed to be 162 Engine KW. Some people were saying should be getting around 150-155 on wheels however I dont think the dyno will be over reading by that much.

Kind Regards

Not one of those makes what the factory claims. They Always make more. So does 90% of vw/ audis. Which is always why they seem to surprise in acceleration times against supposedly similar published power number cars. Do't let numbers bother you. Drive the car and enjoy. Just say to them the dyno was probably broken.

Thanks Panic, however I still need a comparison. I want to add stuff to the car so I know what is adding power or robbing it of power. At the same time I understand and will take in what you said

Sorry don't get it. You now have a baseline at a dyno. When you add stuff then you take it back to the same dyno and compare it to that number. Once again, knowing what another car makes at another dyno means absolute jack to you.
Anyway they make around 230 hp on mine which is 171 kw.

Noted thank you Panic, I just got worried that I purchased a car with software on it and that it still has a motor plan and warranty as well which expires end of the year which is when I plan on doing the upgrades. Everyone was saying it has software so I did not want to pay a ETuner to check and remove if it did so I dont have issues at a dealer when somthing goes wrong or if I want to extend.

thanks

Dealer diagnostics machine would have picked up if it has software on last time a dealer serviced it and would have voided the warranty
It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...
