2006 BWA misfiring
Hi guys
I've got a golf 5 gti dsg 2006 bwa spec , the car has a serious misfire which tends to occur under hard acceleration or after 3000rpm or so .. I have fitted new R8 coilpacks, sparkplugs and replaced the pcv valve, and yet the car is still misfiring . I drove the car this evening after fitting the new coilpacks and plugs and it never misfired at all on the test run, just when I thought the problem was solved it started misfiring again.. Im seriously unsure of what is causing the misfire .. any help or thoughts will be much appreciated, thanks
Kind Regards
Riley

Leaking/faulty injector?
Had the same issue on an a3. One of the injectors was the issue.

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
Thanks for the reply Gollum , I was told it could be a leaky injector so I bought new seals for all the injectors and fitted them in last week even though the old seals were still great

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
Thanks for the reply bud , I still need to run a vcds on it hoping that'll let me know what it is so I don't spend unnecessarily. You could very well be right as I've been reading on the forum those parts can be at faultUncle Nunda wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 7:48 am also check your cam follower and High pressure fuel pump

Check for any bad connections in plugs and wiring to coilpacks and injectors.

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
Let it idle for a while when missing symptoms occur. Remove the plugs and check which one is soaked in petrol. probably that injector is the faulty one. Multiple missfire detection could also mean dodgy injector.

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
I had misfire a while back..turned out that the Bank 1 O2 sensor (top of the downpipe where it meets the turbo) was kaput. Changed it out and all good.

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
Just drove it now and all seems to be good ,thinking it could've been dirt in the injector/injectors so something . Its running well now just a bit shakey on idle now and then will check cam sensor .. big thanks to all you guys

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
So problem seem to have vanished. Do a scan and check if you have any faults showing. Shakey idle tells me something is still not right.RileyG5gti wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 6:42 pm Just drove it now and all seems to be good ,thinking it could've been dirt in the injector/injectors so something . Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
A few days ago the problem occured again and is present ,the mis is currently the worst it has ever been where the car actually struggles to idle and wants to stall, although when I got back home and idled it in my garage it the mis improved . I also switched the car off and started it again and still had the bettered mis whilst holding it on 2000rpm, since then the car has been parked off and last night I unplugged the battary as I've been told it resets the computer box . I have also found that my fuel pressure regulator/sensor on the hpfp is cracked vertically which sounds pretty common as a result of previous owner or vw dealer negligence by pushing the engine cover on hard it breaks as its really close up, really hoping that's the issue . Goldwagen also doesn't sell the part separate have to purchase the whole hpfp which is rather costly.PapaJo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 10, 2018 9:41 amSo problem seem to have vanished. If It doesn't solve the issue it'll have to go to a guy who can fault find the problem , please let me know who I could take it to for further assistance . But first let me get a new fuel pressure regulator. Thanks man

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
disconnecting the battery just cuases a whole lot of false faults in the management and that is about all it achieves.

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
I've installed a brand new fuel pump this evening from goldwagen and the list of faults on the vcds has decreased from 8 faults the other day to 5 today , however im Still getting a low fuel pressure fault, it says the fuel sensor is intermittent and another issue I noticed when I drove it,is the car refuses to boost anymore its feels very underpowered.. think im in for a new diverter valve ?

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
Pay attention to the low fuel pressure fault first. Once that is resolve other errors will clear too. Possible bad fuel sensor.

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
What is the actual faults you are getting on vcds, Please post the fault codes here, It seems that you are just replacing things based on not much info
Just replacing random parts isnt going to solve the issue

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
The low fuel pressure will possibly cuase every single other issue you get. Resolve that first as that will cost you a motor in the long run. Only then worry about the rest. The system will cut boost if there is not enough fuel pressure or if it thinks there isn't IE it will actually close the throttle or open the DV to save the engine. IE cut boost.

Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
Thanks Stephan for the help, btw got the boost back by replacing the DV with a newer design piston type the original DV,s rubber diaphragm was cracked , I understand what you mean as one faulty part could link to a few faults , do you perhaps know an affordable trustworthy mechanic that's clued up with these golf 5 gti,s that could find the problem? Just about had enough of changing unnecessary parts which i think could be the problem that cost big bucks lol, I will still post the faults from the vcds of my pc . Thanks againpanic-mechanic wrote: ↑Fri Jun 15, 2018 6:48 am The low fuel pressure will possibly cuase every single other issue you get. Re: 2006 BWA misfiring
I stay in the Pretoria centurion area, got the misfiring issue sorted it was a faulty injector ,but now sometimes under hard acceleration the car experiences a sort of flat spot where the car seems to electronically cut the fuel or there's actually a shortage of fuel? , the accelerator is open at full throttle but the car refuses to rev more that 4000rpm the vcds shows one fault (P0087 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low - Intermittent) that is the only fault present nothing else, I've ordered a new cam follower from Goldwagen but it hasn't arrived yet, is there by any chance a worn cam follower( even though it looks fine) cause this issue ? Thanks once again.panic-mechanic wrote: ↑Fri Jun 15, 2018 7:51 am You supply not a single even hint of a location so impossible to refer you to somebody.
