What cam and chip for a MK1 2liter

Post by Rishaad Khader »

Hi guys , please help decide on a set up for my motor.
Basically what to put a cam and chip.
What would be the best set up for daily use.

Each individual is different some guys can live with a 288 and some cant stand a 272, you will have to figure out what suits you most people go with 276 estas billet good all round cam good performance if you looking for something daily and not too wild that's your cam also if you running mp9 it would be better mp9 can handle it no issues

:iagree: As above . 282 will also be a option , not as mild as the 276 and not as wild as 288. perfect balance between the two and since no head work and still on mp9.

yes it was affected, the idle is lumpy but for me I like it, it has never switched off can take off at 1000rpm and it's smooth, if that is a concern then maybe you should look at an estas 272 or 276

If you do not want your ideal affected then I suggest you leave your standard cam in. They are ideal for a nice ideal. They have much less of the is overlap with lobes.

This same question has been burnt to death, then revived, then disected, and then reincarnated, and chopped into tiny pieces and placed in a pizza oven.

TLDR - cam is up to what you can handle, and what you want. I ran a 276 and hated it, went 288 and found it so much smoother.
Also, Estas only - nothing else.

For everything else, there is the search function. Some can handle 288 upwards daily, some people don't like it. Daily generally holds best with a stock car.
