2009 jetta 1.9 tdi

Post by Mr.G24 »

Hi
I bought a 2009 jetta 1.9 tdi with a bxe engine and has 190 500km on the clock, all services hs been done and car very well looked after.here and there a couple of things needs attention and i have some questions....

I read on the forum that a decat help turbo life and gives a bit better fuel consumpion.i'm thinking of doing the decat, but only that,no backbox delete and the like for now.will this be wise with such high km?will only the decat give a bit better throttle response and slight exhaust sound change, nothing else?

Is there anything else i can do except a software upgrade, any other hardware upgrades that would be beneficial and does not cost an arm and a leg?

Does these motors have a EGR to blank off and what is the pro's of this?

Also does this diesel have the Diesel particulate filter and whatnis the function of that?

Do the oil pump when you have a chance before anything else if it hasn't been done yet. My colleagues mint BXE 1.9TDI sent a rod through the block due to oil pump failure, turns out it's a common issue.

It will only be a good thing to decat especially on that amount of km's. Turbo will run cooler. EGR blank off i cannot comment.

Rather buy a good quality part that will last then buying a cheap part that won't last.

thanks so much for the feedback guys. i don't want the car to sound to loud, but can i only do the decat and leave the middle silencer and back silencer in or can i take the middle silencer out as well? i will leave the back silencer otherwise i can only think that it's going to be loud, i just want to free up the turbo a bit and get that nice turbo sound via the exhaust.

Cat does nothing to the sound. If you want noise you have to remove a silencer. If you decat for noise you are doing it for the wrong reason.

FYI - the bxe engine only has one sliencer.
I recently had the decat done on mine, only the cat and the rear silencer no middle silencer (on my golf at least)
I also agree with Panic, the decat doesn't do much for the 'turbo sound'.

understood,i'm herre to learn about these things, as i don't have an idea about these things, that is why i ask,i note that the de-cat will only let the turbo run cooler and also does not have that restriction of flow when having a cat , mine does have a cat, middle silencer and rear silencer. Will remove the cat and the middle silencer as well.

thanks for the feedback.

Keep the whole system, ask for it to be cut off in places that it can be welded back together easily, go straight pipe and if it's too much, you can put the rear box back on and/or middle box.
